Artist Statement
Taking pictures allows me to share with the viewer the miracle of one moment captured among the infinite moments of looking. The act of framing and pushing the shutter release is like a silent meditation. It is within this stillness, that allows for the free movement of thought, meaning and emotion. These photographs were taken during my visit to Orchid Island in July 2005, where I attended the harvest festival of the Dawu people.
