The Okinawa Memories Initiative (OMI) student summer study trip returned after a 5-year hiatus. In collaboration with the University of the Ryukyus, the OMI exhibition team curated the exhibition “80 Years After the End of the War: Tracing the Forgotten Scenery — Photos That Tell the Story of Okinawa’s beginnings after the war.” The exhibition included 1953 photographs by US Army dentist Charles Gail, and OMI-inspired short videos by students Kai Jones and Sean Jacob Torralba, Tosh Tanaka and my works Before Me, Open Wounds (2019) and What We Never Forget For Peace Here Now (2024).
